The Great Health Care Swindle
As a financial officer for a health care organization I must agree completely with Arnold Kling’s conclusion. You cannot control costs by spending more and you cannot control access by providing for more with Medicare/Medicaid. Also, preventative care should NOT be covered. This is like taking a horse to water. People should be responsible for their OWN preventative care – known as healthy eating, exercise, annual check-ups, and their own risk behavior (i.e. promiscuity, drug use, alcohol use, tobacco usage, etc.).
I guess the government wants to help people know tabacco is unhealthy, vegtables are good for you, and you should excercise. And they should tax us and spend millions on teaching this messages (excuse me billions).
