On Islam – President Obama in Cairo and the Freedom Thinker in America
I’ve been working on a post on Islam for a while now (months). I wanted to pre-announce the post. It will coincide with President Obama’s speech to the Islamic world. It will be posted the morning of June the 3rd with Obama speaking June 4th. I will then respond to Obama in light of my analysis and Obama’s speech.
For starters though just the announcement of this event in the Associated Press is a bit disturbing:
When President Barack Obama addresses the Muslim world from Cairo next month, Egyptian officials hope he will choose 1,000-year-old Al-Azhar mosque, the heart of a revered institution for Islamic study, as his backdrop to convey U.S. respect for Islam.

“To convey U.S. respect for Islam.” What is there in Islam to respect - murder, torture, 1400 years of war, oppression, a turning away from reason, or a completely closed culture?
