“Both parties need to step up to the plate with specific solutions to our nation’s health care crisis.”

If the Republican’s want to take true leadership of this country they need to point the crisis at government spending and the huge off books debt of Medicare and the costs of Medicaid forced onto the states as well.  We have the best doctors in the world in nearly every category.  Therefore, it is a plain fact that their is absolutely NO health care crisis.  The crisis is to much power centered in Washington D.C. of which is now of course (as power does) being corrupted and abused.

As for addressing the cancellation of Medicare/caid, a cancellation is simply a ceasing of action or bringing to an end something.  I did not address the means or methods of this end.   However, I do stand by the point that I believe that Medicare/caid has to be ended or canceled and as Tennessee Paul states, “The details of the order are open for discussion.”   I haven’t really looked into the details of methodologies for canceling Medicare although I’ve heard some suggestions of voucherized programs to begin weening American’s off of government payer health insurance/care, I’m sure there are other suggestions of merit.   Again, as I stated in the previous posts I’m not the technocrat for those types of plans.

Finally Tennessee Paul states,

The opposition intends to oppose with the goal of regaining leadership. Rarely does it offer a logical counter solution. Perhaps it is time to lobby our congressmen to unite on an alternative solution that Americans truly do want.

This is more to my point.  We need to be holding the oppositions party’s feet to the FIRE, which I don’t see happening.   By saying there is no debate on health care, there is no health care crisis, and the real problem is Medicare/caid one is forced to keep both parties honest.  Something CNN doesn’t do for the Democrats and something Fox doesn’t do for the Republicans; and for that matter I don’t see much of anywhere.  I see either attacks on the Democrats or support for Republicans.  To me neither side is addressing the real issues; but it’s not any surprise when the Democrats present a socialized medicine unified front what is to be surprising about that.  Why attack jackasses for being jackasses? What did people expect when they voted the Democrats into power?  America is getting what it want’s.  I believe that socialized medicine should pass.  We are no longer a Republic and under the rules of Democracy people should be allowed to vote themselves the Treasury as they wish and as they have done.

What is a surprise is when the Republican’s say, “We must fix the health care crisis.”  Or when conservatives fail to address the anathema of entitlements.  At this point Republican’s have nothing to lose.  They can’t lose power they don’t have any!  They could individually lose their jobs, but if that is their concern then they deserve to lose them.  The Democrats are leading not the Republicans.  And if the Republican’s want my vote again they will need to become leaders.  It’s not happening though.  When election season comes around my question for the Republican candidates will be what was your proposal for health care reform during the debate.  Did you call it a crisis? Did you address the entitlement programs? What was your counter proposal to the Democrats proposal.  If their answer is…nothing.  Then that is the type of leader we can anticipate them being and those individuals will not have my vote.    Why vote for a Republican that acts like a jackass?  I thought this election would wake up the Republican party so far it hasn’t and I’m rather preturbed.

It appears President Obama is being a coward and hedging his bet.  President Obama’s government will be the single largest voting right in the company.   As the leading board member in the corporation they will be responsible for hiring and firing the right CEO, monitoring the CEO’s results, working with any internal auditors, and much more. 

While he appologizes  to us in his speech today for forcing us all to sacrifice for the “good of future generations”.   He is apparently not wanting to be responsible for the results of GM.  If GM flops five years from now and is a marginal car company that has not paid back the taxpayers of this country history will view Obama as an abject failure in regards to this policy.   

The Democrats and Obama that support this action should own it.  Obama and Democrats are responsible for the results of GM since they’ve forced me to invest in this company. 

Today General Motors sits at $0.88 per share.  Let’s see what type of ROI DEMOCRATS deliver.

UPDATE (6/2/09):

The government is investing $50 billion into GM. Shares outstanding are 610 million. He says they are buying a 60% ownership in GM. Sixty percent of 610 million is 366 million shares. 366 million shares for $50 billion is $136.48 PER SHARE. Again today the stock is trading at 69 pennies.

I guess Obama thinks he can achieve a 19,799.39% return on his “investment” (read money stolen from tax payers) JUST TO BREAK EVEN. We’ll see. Those Obama supports should be buying up GM stock if they think Obama is telling the truth when he says, “5 years until the stock trades at $136.48 per share.”

UPDATE (6/3/2009): GM Stock is now traded over the pink sheets and has been delisted.  Perhaps a year or so it will return to the stock market and we’ll see how it trades and how quickly democrats will get their “investement” (read money stolen from tax payers) back.

Reports have indicated that Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) plan to introduce a bill that would limit the ability of companies to hire H-1B employees.[1] Arguing that H-1B visa recipients are a threat to American workers, their proposal would add new layers of regulation and procedures making it more difficult for companies to hire foreigners.

This weekend I’m off to Tennessee to see  a good friend.   He is graduating from graduate school with an MBA.  He’ll be returning to his country of birth to create value there not here.   He is a smart, hardworking, well-educated, and recently a family man.  He came to the states for college, returned to his country of birth to serve the required military service, and then returned here for graduate school. 

Because of Republican and Democratic politicians like those mentioned in the article above he will not be adding value to our economy because the rules are to cumbersome for a company to be able to hire a bright talent like my good friend.   Even though they have tried, even though he worked hard in his internship, even though he is just as qualified as many American’s, it’s treated like a zero-sum game. 

And on top of the ignorance of the zero-sum game mentality we let millions of uneducated Mexican’s just walk across the boarder use our hospitals and suck up our social services without benefit to this country.  But let a foreigner come over here legally, help him get a good education at a state school where he works hard, and then force him to leave. 

Yes, America that is what is thought of as “good policy” by Republican and Democrat alike.  We might as well just outlaw higher education altogether it would do the job much quicker then this slow painful process that everybody pretends is “good policy”.

The Dodd bill calls for better disclosure on terms and conditions as well as bans on “unnecessarily exorbitant fees and rates.” Some of its terms are considered tougher than the one shepherded through the house by Joint Economic Committee Chairman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and House Financial Services panel Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.)

While Dodd, Obama, Frank, Maloney and others jet around passing bills to protect us stupid idiots from ourselves what are Republican’s doing:

Opponents of the legislation say it will make firms more conservative about lending at a time when the economy needs a boost.

They’re of course stating the obvious and of course the unimportant.  What is important is that while Obama and his evil ilk are protecting us from are uneducated idiocracy they will be hurting the finance business further.  Why? Because some people are a high risk and do take out to much debt and they suffer the consequences for this in bankruptcy.  However, some people are high risk, need the money, then recover and pay it back.  Lenders make a profit on this by charging higher interest rates to these people.  So really Democrats haven’t done much of anything since consumers are already protected by bankruptcy except to take away a potentially profitable line of business for financial industry business and therefore probably cause a few more jobs to be closed down.  

In summary, American’s are stupid according to the Democrats. Republican’s are cowards for not standing up for financial firms right to make a profit and employee people in a particular line of work.   Business and their workers get fleeced some more.

I agree with the Mr. VanNuys 110%.  The plan seems reasonable but in light of our current spending Obama is trying to have it all.  The reason I agree 110% is Obama is wrecking us financially faster then anybody else would have. 

However, I’d like to point out that things wouldn’t have been much different under Republican leadership.  In fact, Republican leadership as pointed out in the Washington Times would do even more in Afghanistan. 

As far as the spending goes Obama is just the Republican party on steroids.  In the Omnibus bill Republican’s had 40% of the earmarks, McCain infamously took time off his presidential campaign to go to Washington and support the Pelosi, Paulson, Bush Wall Street bailout.   Further, for all of McCain’s talk of limiting earmarks this is just politics as well.  Read any of the great minds of today and they will tell you to focus on the top 10 to 20% of the problems that create 80% of the results.  McCain and other conservatives focus on limiting earmarks is just politics.  Earmarks only account for a small percentage of spending compared with the overall spending.  True leadership along the lines of what Stephen Covey, Jim Collins, Peter Drucker, or Jack Welch would call for would be true meaninful reform. 

This is the problem.  While I agree with those at American Missive I’d take it a step further.  What is the alternative a slow decline or a fast decline?  A slow decline surely gives us time to change.  But we aren’t changing for the better I don’t see any swinging of knowledge or understanding of the principles that would make this country stronger.  A fast decline would hurt but maybe it would shake us up sooner rather then later.  With four young kids for their sake I’d rather be stuck with the burden of the hard life so I could leave them with a better world.  One could almost be justified in supporting Obama on this ground.  Although personally faced with two evils like the Republican party and Democratic party I will choose neither.  The ends do not justify the means. 

I wonder do those at American Missive see as large a lack of leadership in Washington as I do?
