“The bill aims to “protect national cybersecurity” in an age of high tech terrorism. Like most pieces of security legislation coming from Washington, the security promises are great, but the infringement on our rights is greater.”

I must slightly disagree, the security promises are probably NOT all that great.   If the government had such great skill at preventing catostrophic attacks I doubt we would be living in a post-911 world, why didn’t they stop this wonderful economic crisis, why did they let the health care problem get to “crisis” stage and the list goes on.  The answer is Washington can “promise” security but we all know what a Washington D.C. promise means.  Nothing.  So there is no additional security here there is only more power for government.  The power to control freedom of speech.  Something Obama has been working on pretty dramatically as of late by taking over ABC for his health reform, blocking the rule of law, and requesting citizens to inform on others whose views oppose Obama.

The current government administration is obviously no friend to freedom of speech and we don’t know what following administrations will bring.  As I’ve pointed out before the Grand Inquisitor of Dostoyevski says, “In the end they will lay their freedom at our feet and say to us, ‘Make us your slaves, but feed us.”   In this case though the American people ask make us your slaves only protect us.

Last October the London home of Gibson Square publisher Martin Rynja was firebombed because they were planning to publish Sherry Jones’s historical novel about the chap the BBC calls simply “the Prophet”.

Guess what? The Jewel of Medina will not be published in Britain. The book is now effectively banned in the country of Tom Paine and George Orwell, not by Government order but by religious bullies. Jewel has already come out in seven other countries, including Denmark and Serbia, but Britain is considered too dangerous for anyone who offends Islam.

So even though Somali minicab driver Abbas Taj and two others have been convicted of the crime, they have still won, through intimidation.

I think there is a disconnect from the lies our politicians (Republican and Democrat) tell us and the actual reality of this deadly war we are fighting.  I’m working on an article to be published June 3rd analyzing much of the situation the world finds itself in regarding freedom and Islam’s threat to this freedom.

The UN resolution has no legal force, but its symbolism is disturbing. Any Islamic government that legislates against an “insult to Islam,” which can cover nearly anything, has just been given a pat on the back. Anyone anywhere who finds something objectionable – a depiction of the Prophet Mohammed in an editorial cartoon in Denmark, or a novel set in India, or a mention of the Prophet Mohammed in connection with a beauty pageant in Nigeria – has been handed a moral justification for protest. This, in a world in which such protests have often taken deadly forms.

It’s interesting to learn how anti-democratic the U.N. is by passing such a law against free speech. It’s also interesting to see how blatently hypocritical many of the Muslim countries are that passed this legislation. After it’s illegal to be a Jew in some Muslim countries that voted for this legislation, it’s illegal for a non-Muslim to be in Mecca, a person can be killed for converting from Islam in some countries, and many Muslim countries treat women as less valuable then then men.

Of course no self respecting free society will pay any attention to this law. However, it eye opening to see how cold and hypocritical the Muslim world can be.
